Founded and run by Stephen Maida

Discount Property Taxes is owned by Stephen Maida, a University of Texas at Austin graduate with more than 16 years protesting property tax valuations across Central Texas. His background runs deep on both sides of real estate — development, construction, sales, property management, and development consulting for residential and commercial projects alike.

That command of multiple disciplines is exactly what gives Stephen an edge against the county appraisers. We protest both residential and commercial property taxes — including large institutional assets — and we know how to build a case the county takes seriously.

As a licensed Realtor, Stephen has direct access to the Austin MLS for comparable sales and rent data, plus long-standing relationships with brokers across the market. He maintains an ongoing database of residential and commercial comps and pairs it with detailed financial models to argue your valuation down as low as possible.
